For those expecting to see Michael Bisping square off against Wanderlei Silva at UFC 105, you may have to wait a little longer. Bisping recently blogged that Silva underwent facial surgery that may keep him out of the cage until 2010.
“Quick update on the potential Wanderlei Silva fight,” Bisping wrote on his website. “Unfortunately that’s not gonna happen. He’s undergone facial surgery, so obviously won’t be fighting in the near future. Rumours are he’s actually out for the rest of the year.”
No opponent has yet been named to fight Bisping at the event. Earlier this month, UFC president Dana White stated that the organization has a main event in mind, but nothing has been set. Bisping is looking forward to taking on a top contender in his home country of England, after suffering a devastating loss to Dan Henderson at UFC 100.
As for Silva, many are saying the fighter had scar tissue removed from his face, a procedure that takes extended time to heal. Silva has yet to confirm these reports.
UFC 105 takes place on November 14th from Manchester, England and will air on Spike TV.
