One of the keys to Gilbert Melendez’ victory this past weekend over Mitsuhiro Ishida at “Strikeforce” Carano vs. Cyborg” was the fact that Ishida was unable to take the interim champion to the mat. If you ask Ishida, Melendez may have had some assistance with his illusive ways, as he’s accusing “El Nino” of illegally greasing-up for their rematch.
F4wonline.com is reporting that Ishida has filed a protest with the California State Athletic Commission for them to investigate the matter. Ishida and his camp must now follow that up with a written complaint to the CSAC.
Ishida, who was a last-minute replacement for injured champ Josh Thomson, suffered a disappointing third round TKO loss to Melendez this past Saturday.
As of publication, neither Strikeforce, Melendez’s camp or the CSAC have issued public statements responded Ishida’s complaint.
