Not only did Strikeforce lose a title fight due to Nick Diaz not taking his drug test, but now they’ll have to compete with the UFC.
The UFC, which was scheduled to air “UFC’s Ultimate 100: Greatest Fights” on SpikeTV starting at 7PM on Saturday, announced earlier today that they will be re-broadcasting “several” fights from UFC 100 instead. It will air directly against Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg.
This isn’t the first time that the UFC has decided to go up against a competitor. The first two Affliction events faced direct competition from the UFC, and Affliction: Banned went up against a live Ultimate Fight Night that featured Anderson Silva in the main event.
Brock Lesnar defeated Frank Mir via TKO in the main event of UFC 100, while Georges St-Pierre successfully defended his welterweight title against Thiago Alves at the event.
