Joe Riggs Remains In Hospital

Late last month, Strikeforce welterweight Joe Riggs was forced out of his title fight against Nick Diaz on August 15th following a reaction to an undisclosed prescription medicine he took while training. Riggs was immediately admitted to the hospital and has been there since.

Riggs’ manager, Trevor Lally of Arizona Combat Sports, informed that they are expecting to have Riggs healthy and released by next week.

“Supposedly, they got it out of his system and they’re switching medications for him, and he feels 100-percent better,” said Lally. “He just had me call Bob (Cook) to see if there’s a fight for him in the near future,” he said. “They’re going to clear him to start working out in about a week.”

The 26-year-old was rushed to the hospital around July 24th after suffering the reaction, forcing out of his open welterweight title bout against Nick Diaz at Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg.
