Fedor Emelianenko To Headline "EA Sports MMA" Video Game

WAMMA heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko addressed the media for the first time since his title fight against Josh Barnett was officially canceled last Friday. In front of a packed house at The Anaheim DoubleTree Hotel in Anaheim, California.

Many thought that the press conference would feature a confirmation of Emelianenko’s signing with the UFC, but instead EA Sports’ MMA video game stole the thunder, as it announced Fedor Emelianenko would be the game’s featured fighter.

Gegard Mousasi and Renato “Babalu” Sobral were also announced as characters who would appears in the video game. Randy Couture is also a part of the game. Dana White has stated that he would outright blackball any fighter from joining the UFC if they appear on any EA Sports MMA video game. Couture is allowed to appear in the game because he made the deal with EA Sports before returning to the UFC last year. It is unknown if White will make an exception for Emelianenko.

Emelianenko’s camp also went on to discuss Fedor’s current contract status as he currently still has one fight left on his Affliction contract, but Affliction no longer exists as an MMA promotion.

“I can promise you and promise Affliction, if something was done wrong, someone will be held responsible.” M-1 USA Vice President Steve Bash told the media.

As we reported earlier today, officials within the Fedor camp told the LA Times that they don’t believe that a deal with the UFC could be struck in time for Dana White’s Friday press conference.
