Affliction’s third pay-per-view, Affliction: Trilogy, has been cancelled. MMAWeekly.com is reporting that several fighters and managers were notified of the cancellation this morning.
The event was scheduled to take place next Saturday, August 1st from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The event hit a major bump in the road when Josh Barnett was pulled from his main event bout with Fedor Emelianenko after testing positive for an anabolic steroid during a pre-test screening.
MMAWeekly.com also noted that Showtime, Affliction’s pay-per-view provider, also played a major factor in the cancellation.
We will have more updates on this story throughout the day and over the weekend.
