MMAjunkie.com is reporting that Wanderlei Silva will be making his UFC middleweight debut at UFC 105 on November 14th against Michael Bisping on the Brit’s home turf. The report also stated that bout agreements are expected to be distributed shortly, with an official announcement coming as soon as next week.
However, Wanderlei Silva’s manager Rob Cardenas told Fighters Only Magazine that the bout is not happening, which corresponds with our report earlier this week.
“The rumors about Wanderlei fighting Michael Bisping at UFC 105 in Manchester or at any point are simply that, rumors,” Cardenas said. “For some publication to say they have been given an exclusive statement on this from Team Wand is not truthful. This fight has not been discussed or offered to us by the UFC. Wand’s preference is to fight in February. He wants to take time off to heal his body and mind, and with his new gym in Las Vegas, he has business affairs and a growing team to attend to.”
UFC 105 will be popping off inside the Manchester Evening News Arena in Manchester, England. It is believed the Spike TV broadcast will be offered for free in the U.S. via same-day tape delay.
While it may not be against Wanderlei Silva, Michael Bisping is expected to fight on the card. It is being heavily rumored that Bisping will be joined on the card by his The Ultimate Fighter 9 proteges James Wilks and Ross Pearson, TUF 8 welterweight and lightweight tourney winners, respectively.
Popular English fighter and rising UFC star Dan Hardy is also rumored to be participating in the show.
