This morning we reported on a story in The New York Daily News which stated that UFC pioneer Kim “Kimo” Leopoldo, 41, died of a heart attack. While looking to confirm that story, TMZ ran an article (which has since been removed) confirming Leopoldo’s passing, but noting that they couldn’t confirm the cause of death. We ran the story (and have since pulled it) citing both the TMZ and Daily News articles.
However, despite those reports, Leopoldo’s attorney Victor E. Hobbs told Yahoo! Sports that the former UFC star is very much alive.
“Kimo has surfaced and that’s all I know right now,” Hobbs said. That article noted that he referred all questions to Leopoldo’s manager, Ron Kort, whose voice mail box was full and could not accept messages.
Leopoldo was sentenced to 10 days of community service and required to participate in a drug diversion program this past Monday after being arrested in February on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine.
