Dana White Officially Declares War On EA Sports

EA Sports is going to have one hell of a time trying to put together a legitimate MMA video game after UFC president Dana White recently declared war with the video game giant.

“I’m telling you straight-up, I’m at war with them [EA Sports],” White stated. “That’s how I look at it.”

What does that mean for video game giant EA Sports? Simply put, White and the UFC will outright blackball any fighter who appears on any EA Sports MMA video game.

It was EA who had turned down a proposal by the UFC to make the promotion’s official video game, which forced the UFC to sign a deal with THQ, which released the popular UFC Undisputed 2009 earlier this year.

“EA Sports told us ‘you’re not a real sport . . . we want nothing to do with this,’” White explained.

For up-and-coming MMA fighters, the UFC is the pinnacle of the sport, and that’s where the line in the sand has been drawn. Will it be worth it to be in a video game if it means throwing away any chance of signing with the UFC?

Who knew gaming could get so personal?
