Anderson Silva Not Next For Georges St-Perre?

With yesterday’s report that the winner of UFC 103’s welterweight bout between Martin Kampmann and Mike Swick will be getting the nod as the #1 contender to Georges St-Pierre’s title, it appears that fight fans are going to have to wait a little longer for a superfight between St-Pierre and Anderson Silva.

Judging by some of the comments made by both St-Pierre and UFC president Dana White following UFC 100, it seems as though neither are ready to commit to that being a long-term goal for either party.

Nobody doubts the star-power of a Silva vs. St-Pierre main event, but consider the facts.

St-Pierre walks around at the same weight that Anderson Silva cuts down to fight (185lbs.), which means Silva would have at least a 15lb. weight advantage over the welterweight champion.

White has said that he won’t even consider a superfight until St-Pierre cleans out his division. Obviously, White feels that St-Pierre has some unfinished business at 170lbs.
