WrestlingINC.com has an article noting that pro wrestler – turned MMA fighter Bobby Lashley has officially signed with pro wrestling organization TNA and will be at their Victory Road pay-per-view this Sunday. Lashley had been telling people in Las Vegas last weekend that he was not going to sign with TNA.
The article noted that Lashley will be continuing his MMA career, and that TNA’s schedule will give him the best of both worlds.
Lashley was interviewed on ESPN Radio on Wednesday and confirmed the signing. He was then asked what would happen if he fought UFC Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar. Lashley said that after watching Lesnar’s fights and studying the holes in his game, he would win. He went on to say that he wants to fight Lesnar because he’s the champ, not necessarily because he’s taken a similar path to the world of Mixed Martial Arts.
“I’m not going to say anything bad on Brock because Brock is the champion. My sights are set on Brock and I’m not saying that I want to fight him because he is the wrestling guy,” Lashley told ESPN Radio 1050. “I am saying that because I am a heavyweight fighter and he’s the heavyweight champ. Eventually, I do want to fight Brock for that title.”
Lashley also said that he has a game plan to beat Brock, but he won’t reveal it before they fight.
Lashley most recently fought Bob Sapp at Ultimate Chaos: Lashley vs. Sapp on June 27, 2009. Lashley defeated Sapp via submission due to strikes at just 3:17 of the first round, improving his MMA record to 4-0.
