It’s official, Miro “Cro Cop” Filipovic is a UFC Fighter. UFC president Dana White confirmed the 3-fight deal with the Croatian to Yahoo! Sport’s Kevin Iole on Monday
Cro Cop last appeared in the octagon against Mustapha Al-Turk at UFC 99, winning his comeback fight via TKO. After that fight, a min-controversy ensued with Dana White claiming a double-cross with Filipovic using the verbal deal he had arranged with White as bargaining leverage to pursue a contract with the Japanese promotion, Dream.
Since then, UFC owner Lorenzo Fertitta has traveled to the Croatian’s homeland to convince him that the UFC is the proper staging ground for his re-ascent up the heavyweight ranks. Those talks resulted in Cro cop officially re-signing a deal for three more fights with the UFC.
As previously reported, his next bout has already been discussed, with Cro Cop slated to make his next appearance September 19th in Dallas against highly-touted Brazilian heavyweight Junior dos Santos, who has KO’d Cro Cop’s former BJJ coach Fabricio Werdum in his last fight with UFC.
