Preview Of Dan Henderson vs. Michael Bisping At UFC 100

Out with the old and in with the new, good guy vs. bad guy, whatever you might want to tag it, the winner of the Dan Henderson and Michael Bisping middleweight scrap could be the top contender to Anderson Silva’s title.

“My manager has spoken with the UFC, and apparently the word on the street is I do get a title shot (with a win),” Bisping told

I’m sure Demian Maia and/or Nate Marquardt will have something to say about that statement come UFC 102, as that August 29th match-up was originally tagged as a top contender bout.

However, that is then and this fight is now. Bisping and Henderson put up with each other long enough, as they served as opposing coaches on this past season’s The Ultimate Fighter 9 reality show.

“No I don’t believe he got under my skin at all,” Henderson said of his former TUF foe. “I’m pretty hard to get riled up. It doesn’t really bother me; it doesn’t matter what he says. It’s just a matter of what he can and can’t do out there in the fight and I know what I’m going to be doing to him.”

What he did was quietly go on a worldwide thrashing spree of the Brit afterward, letting people know what he really thought about Bisping and his skills, even though all was copacetic on the set when the cameras were rolling.

“Ever since the show, [Henderson] has got a little personal, to be honest,” Bisping told the website. “He hasn’t really been talking about my fighting skills too much. He’s been talking more about me as a person, which I have to say I’m more than a little offended by.

“He’s been calling me a douchebag. He said I was the most overrated fighter in the UFC and that I wasn’t good at anything. I’m not sure he’ll feel the same way at the end of the first round.”

What Hendo feels now is that his superior overall MMA skills and experience will silence Bisping’s threats, as well as his mouth.

“I think it’s the power on my feet combined with my wrestling, it’s going to keep him guessing where I’m going to attack next, and he’s just never fought anybody like me,” Hendo said. “I don’t think that’s going to be 100 percent possible no matter how badly I beat him up. It won’t shut him up completely, but I will do my best to at least shut him up for a few days.”

“We can talk all we want, but the 11th of July, as they say, we’re going to get it on,” Bisping responded. “We’ll do the real talking then.”

‘Nuff said. Let’s do this!
