Speaking to Fighters Only Magazine, Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva shared his displeasure over the judges decision on his recent loss to Rich “Ace” Franklin, as well as his desire to put on a show for the fans. Here are some highlights from the interview:
“After the fight, I was so disappointed that I lost. But then I came back home, watched the fight, and I liked it. I liked my performance. I’ve never seen a crowd like that. I enjoyed the fight [with Rich Franklin], I want to fight him again,” Silva said.
Silva also held nothing back when discussing his opinion on the judges’ decision. “There’s no way I lost a unanimous decision, the judges were wrong. Maybe it’s because that was the first event there. I don’t know who the judges were. No way I lost all three rounds. Fans all around the world tell me I won. It was the wrong decision.”
“The Axe Murderer” also commented on what’s next for him in the UFC. “Maybe down to 185 next. It’s what the UFC wants for me. Maybe 205. I’ll fight Rich at 205, no problem. I’ll fight in both divisions, it doesn’t matter,” Sliva said.
“I don’t fight to win or lose, I fight for the show. I love the show. I love to fight, I love the crowd, and I love the fans. I know my responsibility to the fans. People put down their food and drink to watch my fights. They win and lose with me.”
The former Pride champion went on to add, “I’ll fight for the championship again. The fans know my potential. I know my potential.”
