Today, the UFC announced that controversial lightweight Melvin Guillard will headline Ultimate Fight Night 19 alongside former TUF 5 winner Nate Diaz on September 16th inside the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
It’s not necessarily a “must-win” fight for Diaz, however dropping three consecutive bouts, none of which were for the title, in one of the organization’s deepest divisions is not a good thing for job security.
Guillard, on the other hand, is currently riding a three-fight win streak, with the last two coming inside the Octagon’s walls.
Also, the organization confirmed the highly-rumored battle between Roger Huerta and Gray Maynard, a bout which will see Huerta bid adieu to the UFC the very second the fight is over.
Huerta’s UFC contract is up and he has chosen to pursue the glitz and glamor of the big screen, leaving the bumps and bruises of MMA behind.
Here are the fighters slated to be competing on the Spike TV broadcast:
Kyle Bradley vs. Sam Stout
Jeremy Stephens vs. Ronny Torres
Mike Pyle vs. Chris Wilson
Tim Credeur vs. Nate Quarry
Kurt Pellegrino vs. Josh Neer
Gray Maynard vs. Roger Huerta
Nate Diaz vs. Melvin Guillard
