"Sengoku: Ninth Battle" Card Taking Shape

World Victory Road has added some additional fights to their “Sengoku: Ninth Battle” event, which is scheduled for August 2nd inside the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.

The card will feature a handful of individual fights, including a championship battle between Mizuto Hirota and Satoru Kitaoka to become the organization’s lightweight king. The WVR will also be hosting the final rounds of their Featherweight Grand Prix tournament.

Marlon Sandro will tango with Masanori Kanehara and Hatsu Hioki will fight Michihiro Omigawa in the tourney’s semifinals, with the victors scrapping later that same evening.

In addition, the popular Japanese MMA promotion recently added former UFC fighter Akihiro Gono, and Blagoy Alexandre Ivanov, who recently landed on the mixed martial arts radar after beating WAMMA heavyweight champ Fedor Emelianenko in a Sambo match.

The August 2nd event is expected to be broadcasted on HDNet in North America, however the high-definition station has not confirmed if it will be presented live or via tape-delay.
