Reports are circulating that an undisclosed injury has forced a change to the card of the next Strikeforce card, set to hit St. Louis, MO on June 6.
Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante was initially set to take on fellow Brazilian Renato “Babalu” Sobral, who has since pulled out due to the upcoming birth of his second child. Jared Hamman initially stepped up to take his place against Feijao but has also pulled out due to injury.
It seems that the third time is a charm in finding an opponent for the highly-touted Feijao as controversial fighter Mike Kyle (11-6-1) has stepped in to take the injured Hamman’s place on the Strikeforce event. Finding matchups for Feijao has been a challenge in the past with potential opponents seemingly avoiding the almost-unbeaten Brazilian, whose lone loss was a DQ against Marcio “Pe De Pano” Cruz in the IFL back in 2007. The Noguiera and Anderson Silva trained Cavalcante will now look to continue his winning ways against the AKA-trained Mike Kyle.
On the other side, Mike Kyle will look to continue his resurgence with his third straight victory. He previously rebounded from two defeats in Strikeforce and the WEC with wins in smaller regional shows. A win against Rafael Cavalcante on the June 6th undercard could once again put Kyle back into the national spotlight.
The June 6th Strikeforce card will feature a matchup with “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler taking on former Elite XC welterweight champion Jake Shields. Also, Brett “Grim” Rogers will be taking on former UFC Heavyweight Andrei Arlovski. The event will air live on Showtime at 10pm EST.
