NWITimes.com is reporting that Miguel Torres’s (36-1) next title defense will be against Brian Bowles (7-0) at WEC 42 on August 9th in Las Vegas, NV, the night after UFC 101: Declaration. The article goes on to note that the announcement will be made during WEC 41: Brown vs. Faber 2 on June 7th.
The fight was originally slated to take place at WEC 40, but Bowles had to bow out of the fight due to a back injury. Takeya Mizugaki filled in for the injured Brown and lost via unanimous decision in an early fight of the year candidate.
Bowles is looking to keep his undefeated streak in tact, having last fought at WEC 37: Torres vs. Tapia last December, defeating Will Ribeiro via submission with a guillotine choke in the third round.
WEC 42 will take place at the refurbished Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel. The arena, which MMAJunkie.com stated used to be able to seat 1,500 fans, can now can seat approximately 4,000 people.
