In Sherdog’s popular “Pros Picks” article, where fighters give their opinion on who they think will come out on top in the big fights for each UFC event, one particular fighter had an interesting take on the Serra-Hughes grudge match set to take place this Saturday night. Randy Couture had this to say about the UFC 98 co-main event:
“With Matt Serra’s newly mastered striking abilities and his already phenomenal jiu-jitsu and wrestling skill sets, I think he has the potential to be very difficult for Hughes. This could be a pivotal fight for Hughes, considering [this might be] his last outing. He’s a tough, experienced fighter that you can never count out, but I believe Serra will win the fight. [There] could be some interesting fireworks along the way with their personalities, as well. It should be fun.”
Somewhat surprisingly, ten out of the eighteen fighters polled for this contest chose Matt Serra to defeat Matt Hughes. We only have to wait a couple more days for this ever-so-compelling battle to come to its’ vital conclusion.
