Former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovksi (15-6) will make his Strikeforce debut on Showtime at Strikeforce: Lawler vs. Shields on June 6 from the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, MO. The Fight Network reported today that he will replace Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem, who had to pull out of the fight with a hand injury, against the undefeated Brett “Grimm” Rogers (10-0).
Arlovski last fought at Affliction: Day Of Reckoning on January 24th, where he lost to WAMMA heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko via KO in the first round. He had since been training to make his boxing debut this summer.
Rogers last fought on April 11th, defeating Ron “Abongo” Humphrey via TKO in the second round at Strikeforce: Shamrock vs. Diaz.
Other featured bouts on the card feature Nick Diaz facing Scott Smith, and Robbie Lawler taking on Jake Smith in a 182 lb. catchweight bout.
