* The Ultimate Fighter 7 contender Kyle Kingsbury (7-2) and Razak Al-Hassan (6-1), who were initially set to square off at UFC 102 in August, will now likely fight this October. Kingsbury last fought at The Ultimate Fighter 7 Season Finale in December, losing to Tom Lawlor via unanimous decision. Al-Hassan last competed at UFC Fight Night 16, losing to Steve Cantwell via submission in the first round.
* The UFC injury bug continues to stay busy, this time claiming Rousimar Palhares (9-2), who was forced to withdraw from his upcoming fight with Alessio Sakara (13-7) at UFC 101. Palhares suffered a broken tibia in training and it is not currently known how long he will be out of action. Palhares had last fought at UFC 93 in January, scoring a unanimous-decision victory over Jeremy Horn. Sakara last fought at UFC Fight Night 17 last September, defeating Joe Vedepo via KO.
* Bloomberg posted an article this week about video-game maker THQ pinning their hopes on this month’s release of UFC 2009 Undisputed. One analyst in the article expected the game to sell more than 2 million copies in nine months and that the UFC would receive 17 percent of sales or a guaranteed minimum. THQ is in dire straits right now, having lost their WWE contract last year. The stock, which traded at over $22 last year, now trades at less than $5.
