The UFC has announced that they will induct two people into the UFC Hall-of-Fame as part of the UFC 100 Fan Expo. Although nobody knows who will be inducted, the leading candidates are Chuck Liddell and Charles “Mask” Lewis of TapouT.
Strangely enough, Liddell has yet to officially announce his retirement and Hall-of-Fame inductees are generally reserved for fighters/athletes who are no longer active in their sport.
This may be Dana White’s way of closing the door on Liddell’s career so that he no longer has to worry about his friend possibly getting hurt.
Lewis, was never a fighter in the UFC but his contributions to the sport are unmatched and nobody would complain about his induction. TapouT has been around since the beginning of the UFC and built a relationship with the sport’s largest promotion that continues to this day. His tragic passing still has the sport and its fighters reeling.
Another possible candidate for induction could be the late Evan Tanner who passed away last September after a trek through the California desert that left him dehydrated.
