As first reported by MMAWeekly.com, a verbal agreement has been reached for a fight between former heavyweight contender Gabriel Gonzaga and UFC newcomer Chris Tuchscherer at UFC 102 on August 29th in Portland, Oregon.
Gonzaga is coming off a brutal KO defeat at the hands of rising star Shane Carwin, and will be looking to begin the arduous process of climbing back to the top of the division. Tuchscherer will be making his octagon debut after being tabbed as ready to compete in the big show during a tryout for 10th season of the Ultimate Fighter. While carrying a 17-1 professional record and serving as the primary training partner for current heavyweight co-champion Brock Lesnar, many people in the sport believe he is ready to face top talent.
Also on the already stacked card for UFC 102 is an epic match up between two legends in Antonio Rodrigo Noguiera and Randy Couture as well as bouts between Keith Jardine and Thiago Silva, Nate Marquardt and Damien Maia, plus Matt Hamill and Brandon Vera.
