Since signing a four-fight contract extension with the UFC back in September, Jason MacDonald has dropped his last two scraps, and three of his last four overall. Today, the UFC sent him packing.
“I’m obviously very disappointed,” MacDonald stated. “But I’m not at all angry with the UFC. I’m well aware of the fact that I’m paid to perform. And the reality is three of the past four fights, I’ve lost.”
Following his TKO loss to Nate Quarry at UFC 97, MacDonald received the dreaded show of support from UFC president Dana White at the post-fight presser.
“Here’s the thing that we love,” White stated. “Anybody who goes out there and tries to fight – MacDonald is always awesome, man. He’s always in an exciting fight.”
Apparently the organization cooled on the him since then, as they continue to trim the fat from their exclusive roster.
“The UFC has been great to me, and they’ve been great to deal with, so there are no hard feelings at all,” MacDonald said. “I understand it’s just the nature of the sport. Especially nowadays, with so many fighters, it’s more important than ever to win fights.”
UFC match-matcher Joe Silva stated that with a couple solid W’s the Canadian could find him back inside the Octagon sooner rather than later.
