If Rich Franklin had to name his toughest foe in the UFC, there is little doubt that he would name current UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva. Silva destroyed Franklin via first round TKO at UFC 64 in October 2006, taking Franklin’s Middleweight title in the process. Silva once again defeated Franklin a year later at UFC 77 in October 2007, this time finishing Franklin in the second round via TKO. So it comes as no surprise that Franklin would want to enlist the services of ‘The Spider’ in preparing for his 195-pound catchweight fight at UFC 99 on June 13th against Wanderlei Silva – a former teammate of ‘The Spider’ at Chute Box.
The Dayton Daily News is reporting that sources close to Anderson Silva told them that Silva has agreed to train with Franklin. J.T. Stewart, Franklin’s manager, had no comment.
The article also noted that Franklin had recently went to Seattle to start his fight camp under
Matt Hume, and will apparently train with Silva in
California while he’s away. To read the full article at The Dayton Daily News, click here.
