“At the end of the day, I care about these guys. I don’t want to see anybody stick around too long. You’re never going to see Chuck Liddell on the canvas again. Tonight was the end of an era. One of the greatest guys in the sport just fought his last fight tonight.”
UFC President, former manager, and good friend to Chuck Liddell, Dana White reacts to The Iceman’s convincing KO loss to the resurgent Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at UFC 97 last night in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Before the bout, the outspoken White stated that Liddell would have to win and win convincingly for the opportunity to keep fighting for the MMA organization. This bout marked the fourth loss in the last five fights for the future UFC Hall-of-Famer, who has been knocked out by Rampage Jackson and UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans as well. According to White, UFC 97 marked the last time fans will get to see The Iceman compete in the famed octagon. More on this story as it develops.
