The UFC handed out bonuses Wednesday night in the amount of $30,000 to fighters whose performance earned them fight of the night, submission of the night, or knock out of the night honors.
Tyson Griffin and Rafael dos Anjos each raked in a bonus check for their lightweight tilt which saw Griffin bounce back in the second and third rounds after staving off a brutal leg submission attempt by dos Anjos in the first. Griffin hung in and outstruck the Brazilian en route to a unanimous decision victory.
Rob Kimmons finished Joe Vedepo with a solid guillotine choke in the first round of their battle, earning Kimmons the submission of the night award in his second UFC appearance.
Aaron Simpson earned knockout of the night honers, quickly disposing of Tim McKenzie with a first round KO. Simpson, a former All-American wrestler, upped his impressive record to 5-0 with five KO’s and has position himself as a prospect to watch in the UFC’s middleweight division.
