Travis Lutter, the middleweight winner of TUF 6, will fight Dean Lister in the main event of MFC 21 on May 13th. Maximum Fighting Championships promoter Mark Pavelich announced the main event and other fights set to take place on MFC 21 during a recent visit to Carsons Corner.
Lutter last fought nearly a year ago at UFC 83, where he lost to Rich Franklin. Not too long after the loss, Lutter was then axed from the UFC. Lutter may be best remembered for failing to make weight for a fight against UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva; the fight with Silva was supposed to be a title shot he earned from winning the sixth season of the ultimate fighter reality series. Lutter ended up losing to Silva in a non-title fight.
Lister is coming off a decision loss to Yushin Okami at UFC 92 back in December. Shortly after the loss, Lister asked for and was granted his release from the UFC.
Pavelich also announced that David Heath will take on Travis Galbraith in a light-heavyweight bout and former UFC veterans Mike Nickels, Solomon Hutcherson, John Alessio and Marcus Aurelio are also likely to compete at MFC 21.
