[Jeff Curran] did a Q&A at a WEC event, and a fan asked him what he thought about Miguel Torres at 135. He said, ‘I respect Miguel a lot, but he doesn’t have anything for me. When I fight him, I am going to kick his ass and take my title from him.’ He’s (also) called me out in my hometown. He came to a fight in my hometown, I wasn’t at the show, and he got on the stage and called me out. He said he couldn’t wait to get to 135 to take his title, and different things like that. Curran is just trying to hype a fight, and he is doing a pretty good job of it. But with a fight like that, I wouldn’t train to beat Jeff Curran, I would train to hurt Jeff Curran. He’s made me really angry in the last couple of weeks.”
WEC Bantamweight Champ Miguel Torres recently spoke to Versus.com about his distain for Jeff Curran, who has been talking trash about Torres as of late. Both Torres and Curran are fighting at WEC 40 and they could end up fighting each other down the road if they both win at the April Event. Torres, Who is coming off of a victory over Manny Tapia at WEC 37, is set to defend his bantamweight belt against Takeya Mizugaki at WEC 40. Meanwhile, Curran is coming off of a defeat to Mike Thomas Brown at WEC 34; after the loss he decided to make the drop from featherweight to bantamweight. Curran will be fighting Urijah Faber training partner Joseph Benavidez at WEC 40.
