The UFC continued its infamous roster cuts as light-heavyweight fighter Mike Patt and Irish welterweight Thomas Egan are the latest roster cut victims.
Patt went 0-2 in the UFC with losses to Tim Boetsch at UFC 88 and the most recent loss to Brandon Vera at UFC 96.
News of Egan’s release was reported by fighters only magazine. Egan suffered a loss in his lone UFC appearance to Jon Hathaway at UFC 93 in Dublin.
Egan’s coach John Kavanagh of SBG Dublin had this to say to fighters only magazine regarding Egan’s release from the UFC: “To be honest, I thought got in there early anyway. He’s only 20 years old and he only had three professional fights before fighting in the UFC,” said Kavanagh. “We’re not disappointed at all with the news. It means he can get active on the UK and Ireland circuit and get more experience. “We will get some more fights under his belt and the next time he is called up he will be ready.”
