Dana White recently sat down with Setanta Sports, a popular European Sports station and UFC broadcast partner, to address a variety of rumors and potential match-ups. White spoke very candidly about a variety of topics including his plans for UFC 100.
“UFC 100 is going to deliver,” White said. “People are going to be really pumped about that card.”
When pressed White confirmed a title fight between Georges St. Pierre and Thiago Alves as well as a middleweight tilt between Ultimate Fighter 9 coaches Dan Henderson and Michael Bisping.
White also stated that another big name fight would be added to the card, but wouldn’t confirm names. Though he did confirm a middleweight title fight in England dependent on a Bisping victory.
“There’s going to be three major fights on the card,” White stated. “If [Bisping] beats Dan Henderson, not only will he break into the top five, I think, if he wins that fight, his next fight would be a title shot against Anderson Silva… which hopefully would be here in the U.K.,” said White.
White apparently has designs on jet-setting all over Europe stating his desire to see Hawaiian native B.J. Penn defend his lightweight title against a surging Kenny Florian.
“B.J. is probably going to defend his 155-pound title against Kenny Florian, and I’m thinking maybe it’s going to be in Germany,” White said. “Wanderlei will probably fight on that Germany card too. Not sure yet, but possibly.”
The UFC is rumored to be holding UFC 99 in Germany on June 13. And though White was non-committal on a date, he did confirm that the UFC will be in Germany sometime this summer.
White also confirmed that a heavyweight unification bout between champion Brock Lesnar and interim champion Frank Mir will go down this May.
