After beating the former UFC Middleweight champion in Rich Franklin at UFC 93, former Pride champion Dan Henderson earned himself a spot as a coach on the next season of “The Ultimate Fighter”. He will be coaching against the U.K.’s own Michael Bisping in a different version of “TUF”.
The ninth season of the reality series will pit Team USA vs. Team U.K. in hopes to give the show a fresh look.
Henderson did talk to the media following his hard earned, although odd split-decision victory about his upcoming gig as a coach.
“It’s different, and I think a needed change. I’m excited about it, I can tell you that, I don’t know about the rest of the world.” Henderson said regarding coaching on “TUF”.
In terms on the scoring on his split-decision victory over Rich Franklin, Henderson politely responded, “I normally try to, most of the time, stay away from the judges but that’s why they’re there, to judge the fight. There’s no way that I would’ve ever thought that Rich won all three rounds. It was a little bit odd for me to hear that but at the most I would’ve given him the third round.”
The scoring for the fight saw two judges giving Henderson the fight at 29-28 but a third judge curiously give Franklin the fight at 30-27.
