Fightline.com has just confirmed with sources close to the fight that Ryan Bader will make his official UFC debut against Carmelo Marrero at UFN 18 on April 1.
FiveOuncesOfPain.com was the first to report the news.
Bader recently won a six figure UFC contract – his prize for winning The Ultimate Fighter 8 light-heavyweight tournament. The former All-American wrestler defeated a very game Vinicius Magalhaes at the show’s live finale in December to keep his record at a perfect 8-0.
Marrero (10-2), a WEC transfer, also has a solid wrestling background and has fought in the UFC before, defeating current UFC heavyweight top prospect Cheick Kongo, but dropping first round submission losses to both Gabriel Gonzaga and Wilson Gouveia.
