Jesse Taylor (7-3) will face undefeated Pat Minihan (6-0) at a Warriors Cage Event on Jan. 15 according to a report on Around The Octagon. The event takes place at the Table Mountain Casino in Fresno, California.
Minihan, who trains with Mike Swick, Josh Koscheck, and Jon Fitch at AKA is coming off of a recent win against TUF alum Marlon Sims.
Taylor, an Ultimate Fighter 7 finalist, made a name for himself when he self destructed after a night out on the town following the taping of season 7. Security cameras showed an inebriated Taylor kick out the window of a limousine before accosting guests and intimidating security at a Las Vegas hotel. Taylor was promptly kicked off of the show before being brought back later to face CB Dolloway in a fight he lost via first round submission.
After the loss Taylor sealed his fate with the UFC with the following comments regarding Quinton “Rampage” Jackson after his run in with the law last year:
“What goes around, comes around, I guess,” said Taylor. “I didn’t even know until I watched the show, but he said ‘He doesn’t deserve to to represent the company,’ and look what happened to him.”
After being dropped by the UFC Taylor upped his stock by dominating Drew Fickett at Total Combat 32, earning a first-round TKO.
Taylor has stated his desire to return to the octagon on numerous occasions, though he appears to have much more to prove outside of the cage than inside.
