Rich Franklin unenthusiastically confirmed that he’ll coach the American team for Season 9 of SpikeTV popular reality show the Ultimate fighter, if he gets past Dan Henderson at UFC 93.
The fight between Franklin and Henderson had been set up in part, according to UFC President Dana White, to determine who would coach the squad against a U.K. contingent headed up by Michael Bisping. The two coaches would then face off some time this summer.
Franklin who coached season 2 of the series, appears uninspired about the possible situation, but will fall in line with the UFC if asked to participate.
“I have not personally spoken to Dana, the UFC or any of the production people about the show,” Franklin told AOL Fanhouse. “Six weeks in Vegas, I’ve gotten to the point where I could care less for staying in Vegas for that period of time. It’s time away from my family and time away from doing the things I can do to make money. The show doesn’t pay very well. … But anything the UFC asks me to do, I’m always on board for.”
