Jerome LeBanner has been forced to withdraw from Fields Dynamite 2008 on the eve of the 19-fight mega card due to an apparently bad case of the flu.
The 6’3″, 255-pound LeBanner was scheduled to face Mark Hunt (5’10’, 250lbs.) at the event but will hand off to Dutch K-1 Superstar and DREAM middleweight tournament runner-up Melvin Manhoef.
Manhoef will carry a sizable weight disadvantage into his fight with Hunt, but has remarkable striking power as evidenced by all but one of his wins coming by K0 or TKO.
Hunt is coming off of three consecutive submission losses but holds notable wins over strikers Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic and Wanderlei Silva.
Both men like to exchange and do very well against other strikers so this one should be an absolute fireworks display.
This absolutely stacked card, which also features the likes of Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic, Kazushi Sakuraba, Joachim Hansen, JZ Cavalcante, Eddie Alvarez, Shinya Aoki, Gegard Mousasi, Alistar Overeem, Hayoto “Mach” Sakurai, and Semmy Schilt among others, will not be shown in the U.S.
Deals with HDNet and Event Magic.tv were in the works for live TV and internet streaming respectively but agreements could, unfortunately, not be reached.
After potential deals fell through between FEG and HDNet for a television broadcast — and with Event Magic.tv for a possible internet stream — the event will not be broadcast live in the U.S.
