Dana White recently sent Olympic Judo gold medalist, Satoshi Ishii a care package with tons of UFC gear and an invitation to the promotions year end event, UFC 92 in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Dec. 27. Ishii was reportedly so pleased that he cut his holiday celebration short to fly out to Las Vegas in preparation to attend Saturday’s event. Indications are that the judo stalwart may sign with the promotion soon, but not during this trip.
“I don’t think I will sign a contract this time, said Ishii to Sanspo. “That will probably be next time I go over. While I’m there this time, I want to invite (Dana White) to a training session to show my potential.
Ishii, is setting his sights very high for someone new to MMA. After calling out Fedor Emelianenko who reportedly laughed off the challenge, Ishii is now focusing in on UFC Heavyweight Interim Champion, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.
“Nogueira is a wall that I will need to get through,” stated Ishii. Next year will be a year of challenge.”
