Multiple sources have confirmed that Anderson Silva and Thales Leites have verbally agreed to face each other at UFC 97 in Montreal. This will be the UFC’s second event in Canada after an extremely successful UFC 83: St-Pierre vs. Serra.
Although the bout agreements have not been signed to this point, only an extreme situation would cause either party to back out.
Silva is looking to prove himself after his performance against Patrick Cote, while Leites who owns a 14-1 record wants to solidify himself as a top Middleweight.
When the card is finalized, expect Georges St-Pierre to also be on the card as the UFC would not want to miss out on a chance to promote the Canadian Athlete of the Year.
