Thiago Alves has been very busy in the past year. He has gone through Karo Parisyan, Matt Hughes and now top contender Josh Koscheck. In his view, he’s earned a shot at the title.
“I’m ready for the title,” Thiago Alves told MMAWeekly. “I hope I get a shot at the title next. I’m ready. I can’t wait.”
Alves will have to wait for at least another fight to shake out first before getting his shot according to comments made by UFC President Dana White at the UFC 90 post fight press conference.
“This kid is definitely ready for a title shot,” said White about Alves. “It’s a matter of time…letting the St. Pierre vs. Penn fight happen, then we’ll get him.”
Alves doesn’t appear to have a preference regarding an upcoming opponent, stating that he just wants to face the best.
“My opponent has no face,” said Alves. “I’ll fight the champion. I want to fight against the best. It doesn’t matter if it’s BJ Penn or Georges St-Pierre. It doesn’t really matter. I just want to fight the best.”
