Fedor Emelianenko is still one of the top 2 fighters in the world at any weight class and UFC President Dana White is finally saying it publicly. “I want Fedor to come in and fight the best. At the end of the day, I’m a fight fan.” White told the Boston Herald.
The issue at hand is that Emelianenko is currently under contract with Affliction and the UFC will never co-promote again after the debacle that had taken place when White had loaned out Chuck Liddell to Pride.
“People want to call him the best heavyweight pound-for-pound. Wait until he gets in and starts fighting some of these guys.” White continued.
The UFC does house many of the Top 10 Heavyweights in the world, but Fedor doesn’t have to enter the Octagon to face the others. With Andrei Arlovski and Josh Barnett still waiting in the wings for a crack at the world’s best Heavyweight, he may not need to fight in the UFC. He’s already beaten it’s “interim” champion in Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira twice in Pride.
