UFC newcomer Mustafa Al-Turk will not be fighting up-and-coming heavyweight Cain Velasquez at UFC 92. Instead another rising heavyweight in Cheick Kongo will step in to replace the injured Velasquez to welcome in Al-Turk to the Octagon.
This will be Kongo’s first fight since leaving former trainer/manager Juanito Ibarra. Kongo followed Quinton Jackson to Wolfslair in the U.K. after Jackson’s falling out with Ibarra.
Velasquez has apparently suffered a knee injury during training that will require him to have surgery in order to correct the problem.
