When Strikeforce invades the “Playboy Mansion” once again in September, 135lb. Meisha Tate may be going with them. The 22-year-old is currently 2-1 in MMA with her loss coming at the hands of Kaitlyn Young at a BoDogFIGHT event.
“I’m hoping, keeping my fingers crossed, that I’m going to make it on the Playboy Mansion show on Sept. 20,” said Tate in a recent interview on MMAWeekly Radio. “I’m still waiting to hear.”
She made her debut for the promotion in June when she defeated Elaina Maxwell in a very convincing unanimous decision win. Apparently, Strikeforce is interested in signing Tate to a three-fight deal although nothing has been discussed officially.
“I heard they wanted me to sign a three-fight contract,” commented Tate. “I haven’t heard anything really more about that. I wouldn’t say that I’m devoted to Strikeforce by any means yet. We would have to talk and work things out.”
Is Tate doens’t find a permanent home in Strikeforce, EliteXC and the up-and-coming AFL are currently trying to bolster their female divisions and Tate would be allowed to fight top competition such as Gina Carano and Cristiane Santos in EliteXC and Tara LaRosa in the AFL.
“I’d be totally down to take a fight in the AFL or any other organization, EliteXC… whatever is good for my career.”
