Strikeforce is currently pursuing lightweight contenders to take a shot at dethroning the recently crowned Josh “The Punk” Thomson at “Strikeforce at the Mansion”, which will be held Sept 20. at you guessed it, the “Playboy Mansion”. Thomson won the belt from Gilbert Melendez recently and is currently on a seven-fight win streak.
Strikeforce is reportedly in talks with MMA vet Jay Estrada and Ashe Bowman to battle “The Punk” at the Sept. event.
Estrada, who holds a 21-9 pro record, has fought for many organizations over the years including the IFL, King of the Cage, and the Montreal-based TKO. His most notable win came against the heavy-handed Sam Stout. He’s lost matches against notables Clay Guida, and Bart Palaszewski. He is currently on a three-fight win streak.
Lion’s Den fighter Ashe Bowman is also in the running for Strikeforce gold. He’s fought the bulk of his fights for Ken Shamrock Productions, and is also trained by the UFC legend.
