The UFC has just announced that the rumored Sean Sherk vs. Tyson Griffin match-up is no rumor after all. The contracts have been signed and the two lightweights will face each other at UFC 90 in Rosemont, Ill. just outside of Chicago. The fight will be on the televised portion of the card. Anderson Silva takes on Patrick Cote at the event, which will be held at the Allstate Arena and takes place on Oct. 25th.
Griffin is the only man to have ever defeated featherweight phenom Urijah Faber, and is 5-1 in the UFC, with his only loss coming at the hands of Frankie Edgar.
Sherk, who most recently lost a championship bout to B.J. Penn, comes into this fight looking to climb back up the lightweight ladder to regain the title that was stripped from him after a positive test for steroids following his July ’07 bout against Hermes Franca.
