As we previously reported, IFL welterweight champion Jay Hieron has recently been courted by Affliction. It seems as though their efforts have been rewarded as Hieron has just inked a deal with the up-and-coming MMA promotion according to MMAWeekly.com.
“They came and offered me what I thought I was worth, and I’m happy to be a part of it,” he said.
The goal for Hieron and Affliction will now be finding him and opponent to lock up with at “Day of Reckoning” on October 11. Currently, the only prospect is Hieron’s teammate and training partner Mike Pyle from Xtreme Couture which is simply not an option.
“I’m finally going to see where my career’s going,” he said. “Now I can just put my mind at ease and train and know I have a home. Get back to what I love doing, and that’s competing.”
