Strikeforce Branching Out; Plans October Show In Denver

The San Jose based Strikeforce promotion will be branching out it’s reach in October when they hold a show October 3rd at the Broomfield Event Center in Denver.

The night’s action features a main event of Duane “Bang” Ludwig taking on “TUF” alum Sammy Morgan in a rematch of their 2005 bout from “Ring of Fire.” Morgan knocked out Ludwig in just 52 seconds in their first meeting.

Also slated to fight on the card is the “New York Badass” Phil Baroni, Frank Trigg, and Pete Spratt. No opponents have been named for the former UFC vets as of yet.

Strikeforce will be traveling to the world famous “Playboy Mansion” on Sept. 20 for the second time and plan on continuing to grow outside of the San Jose area.

“That’s been our plan the whole time,” Strikeforce vice president Mike Afromowitz said, commenting on expanding the promotion’s reach to new locations. “We just have to make sure that it makes sense.”

It’s recently been announced that Bobby Southworth will defend his title against Renato “Babalu” Sobral at the “Playboy Mansion” event.
