Although neither a date nor a venue has been confirmed, the Kentucky based AFL will be putting on a high-profile pay-per-view fight card before the end of the year, and top-ranked female fighter Tara LaRosa and former WWE star Bobby Lashley will be fighting in the event.
AFL Director of Public Relations Sean McClure today confirmed that the organization is close to an official event announcement.
“We’ve determined a date, and a location is being finalized,” McClure said. “We’ll announce the details very soon.”
Although the show was initially slated for October, it looks as though November is the soonest realistic date for the event being that the UFC, EliteXC, Affliction, and Adrenaline MMA will all be holding big shows in the month of October.
The AFL will pull out their biggest guns with Lashley, LaRosa, UFC veteran and AFL lightweight champ Diego Saraiva, welterweight champ Brent Weedman, middleweight champ George Lockhardt all being confirmed for the card. Also, former UFC vet and “TUF” alum Dan Christison may be added.
