Sam Hoger (6-4), a contestant from the first season of “The Ultimate Fighter” will be making his return to MMA on Friday September 19th for Joe Cavallaro’s World Championship Fighting promotion. It will be Hoger’s first professional bout since April of 2007 when he was submitted by UFC vet Vernon “Tiger” White in the IFL.
Hoger will be jumping up a weight-class to take on heavyweight Braden Brice (4-4). The bout will take place at the Aleppo Shriners Auditorium in Wilmington, Mass. Tickets are now available at www.wcfighting.com.
Hoger was notably disliked in the original “TUF” house. He was accused of stealing athletic gear and UFC apparel from several castmates. He was eliminated from the show after losing to eventual winner Forrest Griffin. He did however win his bout at the “TUF” finale with an upset over Bobby Southworth. He then went 1-3 in the UFC with losses to Stephan Bonnar, Rashad Evans, and Lyoto Machida. His lone win came over Jeff Newton at UFC 56.
