Fabrício Werdum has signed a new 5-fight contract with the UFC. The Brazilian has beaten Brandon Vera and Gabriel Napão by TKO and will fight again in October. The opponent has not yet been confirmed but is thought to be Junior dos Santos.
Werdum is waiting on the title-match between Antonio Rodrigo Minotauro Nogueira, the current heavyweight champion, and number one contender Frank Mir; both of them are coaching opposite one another for the next season of The Ultimate Fighter, SpikeTV’s popular reality show. Werdum has stated his desire to face Minotauro for two reasons:
1. To face off in an all Brazilian UFC heavyweight fight
2. To rematch Nogueira, against whom he previously dropped a three round decision to back in 2006.
Werdum also stated that he wishes to continue competing for six or seven more years and is focused on becoming the UFC heavyweight champion.
