Although previously slated for UFC 89 in England, Damon Martin of MMAWeekly has learned that the welterweight battle between Thiago Alves and Diego Sanchez will now happen in Chicago’s AllState Arena at UFC 90.
The reason for the move is rumored to be the promotion of the Thiago Silva vs. Lyoto Machida bout into the co-main event along with Michael Bisping vs. Chris Leben.
Although not confirmed yet, UFC 89 is believed to be a free card available on SpikeTV. One week later the UFC makes it’s Chicago debut. Although no official word has come from the UFC on the fight card, Alves/Sanchez is a possible main event match-up.
